Post-Remediation Mold Dog Re-Sweeps in Florida

You paid for mold work. The dog tells you whether it still smells mold odor where it used to.

The Question Every Remediation Leaves Behind

Mold remediation is expensive, disruptive, and hard to judge from the outside. When the crew finishes, you get an invoice and a room that looks clean. What you don't get is a way to know whether the problem is actually gone, because the reason you hired them was a problem you couldn't see in the first place.

A re-sweep answers that with the same nose that works everywhere else. The dog walks the rooms that were flagged before, plus the rest of the property, and either it alerts again or it doesn't. If the dog walks past the spots it used to stop at, that tells you something useful about the repair. If it stops again, you know that before the containment comes down and the furniture goes back, which is the cheapest possible time to find out.

When to Book the Re-Sweep

The best window is after the work is finished and cleaned up, but before the containment barriers come down and the space goes back to normal use. That way, anything the dog flags can go straight back to the remediation crew while the job site is still set up. If the work finished months ago and you are still not sure about a smell, a re-sweep is still worth booking. The dog doesn't care when the invoice was paid.

How the Re-Sweep Visit Runs

The re-sweep works the same pattern as any sweep: the dog goes through the property room by room, not just the repaired area. That matters, because moisture problems travel, and the job that fixed the laundry room wall tells you nothing about the closet on the other side of the house. Bring the original alert summary if you have one, or the remediation crew's scope of work, and the handler will make sure every previously flagged spot gets a deliberate pass.

You watch the visit if you want, and the interesting part is honest suspense: either the dog moves through the repaired rooms without stopping, or it doesn't. Both answers go into the new alert summary, dated, so you have a written before-and-after pair for the job you paid for.

A Re-Sweep Is Not a Clearance Test

Florida has a formal process for verifying remediation, called post-remediation verification or clearance testing, and it is done by a licensed mold assessor with lab samples. A re-sweep is not that, and we will never sell it as that. If your contract, your insurance claim, or your peace with the landlord requires formal clearance, hire a licensed assessor. What the re-sweep gives you is an honest early read from a trained nose, at a fraction of the cost, and a written record of whether the dog still alerts.

Who Books Re-Sweeps

Homeowners who want to know the work held before they repaint. Landlords who want a written record before a tenant moves back in. Buyers whose sellers remediated during the deal and handed over an invoice as proof. In every case the question is the same: does the dog still stop where it used to?

Re-Sweep Questions

Does the same dog need to have done the first sweep?

No. The dog alerts on mold odor wherever it finds it, whether or not we swept the property before. If another company found the mold, or a remediation crew found it by opening the wall, our dog can still re-check the finished work.

How soon after the remediation can the re-sweep happen?

As soon as the work is finished and the cleanup is done. The best window is before the containment barriers come down, so anything the dog flags can go straight back to the crew while the site is still set up. If the work finished long ago, the re-sweep still works. The dog doesn't care about the calendar.

What if the dog still alerts where the work was done?

Then you know before the walls are repainted and the furniture is back, which is the cheapest possible time to know. Take the alert locations to your remediation crew, or have a licensed mold assessor test those spots if you want lab results in hand for that conversation.

What does a re-sweep cost?

We quote it like any sweep, based on the property and the scope. Tell us in the request form that the visit is a re-check after remediation and describe what was done, and the quote will reflect the job.
